Now that I have your attention.... I had never seen a Tucker Torpedo in the ‘flesh’ before. Now I have.
But getting back from the future (see what I’m doing there?), on the way to the show I saw this:
And once I got to the show, I saw it again. He would barely do 70mph on the highway, much less than the 88 I was promised. I beat him to the show, but visited the swap meet first.
And not to be outdone in 80's-ness, this was parked behind it:
At the swap meet/vendor area, I saw Mr. Regular’s favorite exhaust supplier Pype SEX haust:
I saw a rusty Jeep that only a David Tracy could love:
I saw a snowblower snow would be afraid of:
And a Plymouth EVERYONE should be afraid of:
Not sure if someone drove or pushed it into the show, but about an hour later....
EEK.
Now, before I bore you with tons of pictures of SHOW cars at a CAR SHOW that are 90% Cameros and TRI FIVE CHEVIES and TIME OUT DOLLS and I HAVE A SCALE MODEL CAR ON THE AIR CLEANER OF MY REAL CAR type... cars... I only took pictures of INTERESTING cars.
Like this uber clean Cutlass Ciera:
Or this Reatta:
And some MORE 80's gems:
I wasn’t going to shoot ANY Trans Ams, but this one caught my eye:
Apparently there was a company called !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that hacked up a bunch of 78-81 ‘Birds and charged an arm and a leg for. I saw a ‘79 while on the way into the show, and this ‘78
I then saw this Formula....
Nothing outstanding, right? WRONG!!!
DIESEL FIREBIRD, BABY!
Then soon after, a MACHO T/A
And what is this bundle of CUTENESS?
Its a 1987 Nissan Be-1
Someone made a Milwakee Police Ford Galaxy replica and it was AWESOME.
Oh, and look, a Greyhound BUS. GET IT?!?!
And where else but Wisconsin would we put our AMC Pacer Wagons next to...
Gee I hope that’s a replica...
Next to the King Of The Hill:
Annnnd more AMC, because Wisconsin:
Oh, and Elio was there. LOL.
I have no words. This was in the “truck” display.
So was this Chevy/Holden Ute:
And this was near the Tucker. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
The Ring Brothers were also there.... or more factually, a Ring Sister:
HNNNG
It smelled nice in here.
Lots of walking from one end to the other.... on the way I saw an Allante for sale:
And a BUNCH of old boats:
Then there was this.
1956 DKW. 3 cylinder 4 speed 2 stroke front wheel driveI forget what else the owner said. Said it would do 70mph after a very long time.
This is an Oldsmobile:
This is a can of OLD STYLE in an Oldsmobile:
I just liked this color:
SO MINTY I WANTED TO LICK IT
That was pretty much it. Didn’t buy anything. It was all over priced, or no one had what I was looking for. I should have bought a Mustang. I could have BUILT a Mustang with all the parts people were shilling for them...
I got a nice sunburn and sore ass calves for a couple days. My neck just started peeling today.
Oh, and I saw this a bunch of miles away from the show, no idea where he was heading... it sure wasn’t Chicago.

We always seem to miss each other at these shows. I stay more in the swap meet area. Nearly bought a Honda Spree for $150. Got a bunch of old metric wrenches. (Mercedes Benz stamped, or Hazet!) Rare stuff. some brochures.
It’s a great event, if a bit disorganized.

Damn! I wasn’t even planning on checking out the show, but after a disappointing trip through the acres of car parts I needed a pick-me-up.

Oh god, yeah. I know what you mean. $1200 for a Honda Trail 70, or $400 for some crappy seat frames or something. its pretty bad. but a guy at one booth had $1 brochures, so I got a bunch of gifts for people.

$225 FIRM for the correct steering wheel for my car, and someone had painted the spokes black. Horribly.
I gave the guy a “are you fucking me right now?” look and put it down and left. eBay has one for $125.

I've wanted to go to Iola since I was a kid, and yet never have. One of these years I'll actually get there.

For crazy stuff at more reasonable prices, I prefer the Jefferson swap meet.

I missed out on Spring Jefferson this year but will be trying for Fall. Last time I was there I got there too late and missed a lot of vendors, people were closing up due to the late hour and rain. Spent more money at the damn outlet malls than on car parts!
Maybe next time (like at Iola) I’ll leave the wife at home.

I appreciate your camera framing, especially the detail shots. Bonus stars for taking the time to caption each picture! That plymouth, though, would have made try to cash in my 401K through the nearest ATM. Nice work, thanks for sharing

Thanks! It was sold, but yeah... lots of nice cars for sale. I stayed away from the Car Corral. Didn’t want to make any dumb decisions.
